Japan: Tokyo Steel raises scrap procurement price by $13/t

  • Japan’s leading steel producer, Tokyo Steel, has hiked its scrap buy price for the eighth time in Oct’21.
  • The steelmaker has raised bids by JPY 1,500/t ($13) for its Utsunomiya unit from 28 Oct.
  • Post-revision, the company’s bid price for H2 scrap stands at JPY 56,000/t ($491) for the Utsunomiya works, while prices for the other plants remain unchanged, as per reports.
