Japan: Tokyo Steel raises scrap buy price by $9/t after two months

  • Tokyo Steel has increased scrap purchase prices for the first time in Sept’21.
  • The company has raised bids by up to JPY 1,000/t ($9) effective from 15 Sept. However, prices for the Tahara and Utsonumiya works remain unchanged.
  • Post-revision, the company’s bid price for H2 scrap will be JPY 50,500/t ($459) for the Okayama plant, JPY 49,000/t ($446) for Kyushu and JPY 47,500/t ($432) for the Takamatsu plant.
