Japan: Tokyo Steel hikes scrap purchase price further

Tokyo Steel has announced its second scrap purchase price hike today by JPY 1000/t ($9.5) in time span of just two days, SteelMint learnt. Prices have moved up for all of its five plants and will be effective from tomorrow (20th Aug ’20). After revision, they would pay JPY 25,000/t ($237) for H2-scrap to Tahara plant and JPY 25,500/t ($242) for Utsunomiya works. Sharp hike in Kanto scrap export tender bids have led to hike in domestic offers as well.
