As per new price circular released, Japan’s leading EAF mini-mill- Tokyo Steel has further lowered its domestic scrap purchase price by JPY 500/MT (USD 5) at Utsunomiya plant while, keeping the price unchanged for Tahara & Kyushu plant. New prices for all grades shall be effective from tomorrow (31st Aug 19).
As per new prices, company will pay JPY 26,000/MT (USD 245) for Utsunomiya plant against JPY 26,500/MT assessment of 29 Aug’19.*
However, the company remains price unchanged at JPY 25500/MT (USD 225) delivered at its central region based Tahara plant and JPY 24500/MT (USD230) delivered at western region based Kyushu works.
Hyundai Steel books bulk Japanese scrap vessel – If sources are to be believed, Hyundai Steel reported to have booked bulk vessel for Japanese scrap comprising around 50,000 MT last week at Yen 27,000/MT FoB. However, the company likely to cut bids for Japanese H2 scrap in coming days following declining domestic scrap prices.
