Japan: Steel billet exports rise 18%, m-o-m, in May’22

Japan’s steel billet exports rose by 17.99% m-o-m in May’22 to 0.26 mnt from 0.22 mnt in Apr’22, as per data recently released by customs.
South Korea was the largest importer with 0.13 mnt, followed by Taiwan and Thailand with 0.07 mnt and 0.05 mnt, respectively.
However, export volumes fell by 12% to 1.15 mnt y-o-y in Jan-May’22 as against 1.30 mnt in the year-ago period.
