Japan: Semi Finish Steel Exports Rise 3% in Mar’17

Japan is world’s 2nd largest steel producing country and it ranked 20th in terms of steel imports in CY15.

According to latest customs data released by Japan customs semi finish exports which includes billets, bloom and slabs have surged by 3% M-o-M basis to 0.32 MnT in Mar’17 as compared to 0.31 MnT in Feb’17.

On yearly basis, nation’s semi finish steel exports have fallen significantly by 18% in Mar’17 against Mar’16. In Mar’16 the same stood at 0.39 MnT.

During Q1CY17 (Jan-Mar),nation’s semi finished steel imports have come down by 19% to 0.97 MnT against 1.19 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.

Taiwan is the major importer and has imported 1,09,035MT of semi finished steel in Mar’17 against 1,13,072 MT in Feb’17.Other major countries include Korea,USA and Thailand.
