Japan: Scrap Export Improved by 16.8% in H1 '13

According to data released by Japan's Ministry of finance, the total quantity of scrap exported from Japan was 4.76 MnT in the first half of 2013 (H1), which increased by 16.8% as compared with the same period of 2012.

Korea, which is the largest buyer of Japanese scrap, purchased around 2.8 MnT in the first half of 2013, thereby witnessing an  increased of 16.17%, followed by china which purchased around 1.4 MnT of scrap, witnessed a drop of 2.3%. Similarly, Vietnam purchased 0.25 MnT of scrap and witnessed a twofold increase in purchase of material, as compared to the same period of 2012.

In June '13, the total quantity of scrap exported from Japan was 0.67 MnT, which was down by 13.8% on M-o-M basis.
