Japan’s orders for ordinary steel in Aug’24 declined by 9.2% to 2.589 mnt compared to the CPLY, marking the third consecutive y-o-y decline, as per Japan Iron and Steel Federation. Furthermore, both construction and manufacturing sales fell by around 10% y-o-y. The slowdown in domestic demand is becoming more pronounced, and it may impact the production of steel manufacturers in the future.
