Nippon Steel plans to restart its idled blast furnace No.4 at Kimitsu works by the end of CY’20, in response to demand recovery mainly in the auto sector. Last month, JFE Steel announced resumption of one of its Fukuyama blast furnaces in Oct. With the resumption of operations by Nippon Steel, Japan’s crude steel capacity will restore 90% of pre-pandemic levels.
