Japan: Nippon Steel forecasts 20% drop in production to 36.3 mn t

World’s third largest steel-maker Nippon Steel expects crude steel output to fall by around 20% to around 36.3 mn t in FY21 compared to 39.54 mn t in FY20. Crude steel output of 8.7 mn t is expected in Jul-Sept’20, up from 8.3 mn t in Apr-Jun’20. The steel-maker has forecast 19.3 mn t of output in H2 FY21.
