- Japan’s manganese ore imports surged 1432% to 110,060 t in Jan’23 against 7,186 t in Dec’22.
- Imports of manganese ore sharply increased as a result of a drop in raw material costs throughout the month and a reduction in inventories. Major exporters were South Africa at 63,860 t, up by 798% m-o-m, and Australia at 46,200 t.
- Meanwhile, imports volumes increased by 74% y-o-y compared to 58,201 t in Jan’22.
