Japan: Kanto scrap export tender postponed – sources

  • Japan’s bellwether monthly Kanto Tetsugen scrap export tender has been re-scheduled for 19 Aug’21 against the usual 9-12th of every month. The tender was delayed due to the ongoing Olympics in Tokyo, trader sources informed SteelMint.
  • About 20,000 t of Japanese H2 scrap is usually auctioned via the Kanto export tender every month, which serves as a benchmark for the Japanese scrap export market.
  • About 14,000 t of Japanese H2 scrap had been awarded at an average price of JPY 47,888/t, free alongside (FAS) as part of the Jul’21 tender.
