Japan: Iron ore imports up 31% on year in May’21

Japan has recorded a rise in iron ore (including pellets) imports to 8.98 mn t in May’21, up by 31% against 6.83 mn t in May’20, according to customs data accessed by SteelMint.

• Australia remained the leading exporter to Japan at 5.51 mn t in May’21.
• Brazil recorded the second-highest iron ore exports at 2.73 mn t, followed by Canada at 0.54 mn t.
