Iron ore imports of world’s second largest importer – Japan fell in Oct’16. Japan imported 10.32 MnT iron ore in Oct’16 against 12.33 MnT in Sep’16. Thus a M-o-M drop of 16% can be noticed.
However on yearly premises, iron ore import figure is down by 15%. In Oct’15, the country imported 12.1 MnT iron ore.
In the first ten months of 2016, the country imported 108.98 MnT iron ore compared to 108.82 MnT during the same period in 2015.
The non-agglomerated iron ore import in the month of Oct’16 was registered at 9.02 MnT against 10.84 MnT in Sept’16. The agglomerated ore imports were registered at 1.30 MnT in Oct’16 compared to 1.49 MnT in Sept’16.
Australian iron ore exports to Japan have witnessed a drop of 21% M-o-M which was 7.53 MnT in Sept’16 and 5.94 MnT in Oct’16. The nation exported around 7.48 MnT iron ore in Oct’15
Brazil exported 2.74 MnT iron ore to Japan in Oct’16, down by 3% M-o-M and 18% Y-o-Y
Canada turned out to be the third largest iron ore exporter to Japan in Oct’16 by replacing South Africa and exported 0.58 MnT iron ore against 0.51 MnT in Sep’16.
South Africa exported 0.43 MnT iron ore to Japan in Oct’16 compared to 0.58 MnT in Sept’16.
