Iron ore imports of world’s second largest importer – Japan has registered 119.2 MnT in 2016 (during Jan-Nov’16), almost stable against 119.4 MnT during the same period in 2015.
The country imported 10.28 MnT iron ore in the month of Nov’16 against 10.32 MnT in Oct’16. Thus, on M-o-M basis, iron ore imports remained almost stable.
However on yearly premises, iron ore import figure is down by 3.3. %. In Nov’15, the country imported 10.64 MnT iron ore.
The non-agglomerated iron ore import in the month of Nov’16 was registered at 9.11 MnT against 9.02 MnT in Oct’16. The agglomerated ore imports were registered at 1.17 MnT in Nov’16 compared to 1.30 MnT in Oct’16.
Country-wise Japan iron ore imports analysis
Australia- the largest iron ore exporter to Japan have witnessed a drop of 6% M-o-M which was 5.94 MnT in Oct’16 and 5.60 MnT in Nov’16. The nation exported around 6.39 MnT iron ore in Nov’15.
Brazil- the second largest exporter to Japan has exported 3.22 MnT iron ore in Nov’16, up 18% M-o-M and down 3% Y-o-Y.
Canada-the third largest iron ore exporter to Japan in Nov’16 has exported 0.63 MnT iron ore against 0.58 MnT in Oct’16. Imports grew up by 9% M-o-M.
South Africa exported 0.35 MnT iron ore to Japan in Nov’16, down 19% M-o-M as it was 0.43 MnT in Nov’16.
