Japanese stainless-steel mills have fixed purchase prices of high carbon (HC) ferro chrome at cents 157/ lb for Q4CY22. Prices have dropped by cents 31/lb or 16.5% q-o-q following the drop in European benchmark price. Market participants explained the drastic price decline was because of stainless steel production cuts globally which has decreased demand of HC ferro chrome.
