Japan: Flat steel exports drop nearly 15%, m-o-m, in April

Japan’s flat steel exports stood at 2.04 mnt in Apr’22, down 14% as against 2.36 mnt in Mar. HRC and plates comprised the largest share of exports at 1.19 mnt followed by electrical and galvanised steel at 0.41 mnt and 0.20 mnt, respectively. Major export destinations were Thailand, China and South Korea. In Jan-Apr’22, export volumes were 8.05 mnt, largely stable compared to 8.09 mnt in the year-ago period.
