Japan’s flat steel exports stood at 2.018 mn t in May ’21, up 13% year-on-year compared with 1.781 mn t in the year-ago month, as per customs data maintained with SteelMint.
Product-wise exports:
- HRC/plate exports marginally up by 1% to around 1.08 mn t in May against 1.06 mn t in the same period last year.
- CRC exports surge by 62% to 164,768 t compared to 101,518 t in May ’20.
- Japan’s major export destinations were Thailand, China and South Korea.
- The country’s flat steel exports were recorded at 5.323 mn t in Jan-May ’21.
