Japan: Ferro Alloy Imports Falls Substantially in Mar’18

According to the Japanese customs, the country witnessed a substantial fall of 22% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloy imports.

Japan imported 85,919 MT Ferro Alloys in Mar’18 against 110,091 MT in Feb’18. Moreover, on yearly basis, Japanese imports recorded a decrease of 19% as it had imported 106,719 MT in Mar’17.

In Mar’18 Japanese Ferro Chrome imports recorded a decrease of 35% as it imported 46,026 MT against 70,669 MT in Feb’17. On the other hand, Ferro Silicon imports by Japan increased marginally by 1% M-o-M.

Kazakhstan in Mar’18 exceeded South Africa to become the largest exporter of Ferro Chrome to Japan at witnessing an increase of 18% M-o-M while South Africa registered a fall of 76% in its Ferro Chrome exports. On the other hand, China was the largest exporter of Ferro Silicon to Japan witnessing an increase of 23% M-o-M followed by Russia and Malaysia amongst others.
