Japan: Ferro Alloy Imports Down by 25% M-o-M in Sep’17

According to the Japanese customs, the country has witnessed a decrease of 25% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloy imports.

In Sep’17, Japan imported a total of 0.12 MnT Ferro Alloys against 0.16 MnT in Aug’17. However, on yearly basis, there has been no change, as in Sep’16 Japan too imported a similar volume of Ferro alloys.

In Sep’17, Japan imported 0.07 MnT of Ferro Chrome, 0.03 MnT Ferro Silicon and 0.02 MnT Manganese Ore. Japan registered a substantial increase of 40% M-o-M in its Ferro Chrome imports. The import volume of Manganese Ore was 0.02 MnT in Sep’17 compared to 0.07 MnT in Aug’17, whereas Japan imported 0.03 MnT Ferro Silicon in Sep’17 against 0.04 MnT in Aug’17.

South Africa and Kazakhstan were the largest exporters of Ferroalloys to Japan, exporting at 0.03 MnT each in Sep’17. South Africa witnessed a fall of 50% M-o-M in its ferroalloy exports to Japan in Sep’17, whereas, Kazakhstan recorded an increase of 0.01 MnT in Ferro alloy exports to Japan on monthly basis.
