Japan: Copper exports down 5% y-o-y in CY’22

  • Japan’s copper exports dropped 5% to 1.21 mnt in CY’22 as against CY’21.
  • Of this, semi-finished products were at 675,662 t, finished products at 229,176 t, and scrap at 313,967 t.
  • China stood as the largest importer with 524,932 t followed by Taiwan and India with 177,727 t and 108,103 t respectively.
  • In Dec’22, copper exports from the nation stood at 101,294 t, up marginally from 100,177 t in Nov’22.
