Japan: Coal imports drop y-o-y in Jan-Aug’24

Japan’s total coal imports in Jan-Aug’24 stood at 110 mnt, a 4.31% y-o-y decrease from 115 mnt in Jan-Aug’23.
Non-coking coal saw a 2.46% y-o-y decline, from 75.1 mnt in Jan-Aug’23 to 73.3 mnt in Jan-Aug’24.
Coking coal imports also fell 10% y-o-y to 24.9 mnt in Jan-Aug’24.
