Japan Metal Daily: Ferrous scrap prices in the Chubu region have dropped by JPY 1,000-2,000/t ($7-14/t), with current prices between JPY 43,500/t ($302/t) and JPY 46,500/t ($323/t). Many electric furnaces have shut down, with Chubu Steel closing until October for upgrades. This has caused crude steel production to fall below 300,000 t. Despite slow manufacturing, the auto industry remained stable.
