Japan – world’s 3rd largest steel producer in CY’18 has recorded lowest Billet export in CY’18 since 2010 as per the custom data available with SteelMint.
On yearly comparison, country’s Billet exports recorded at 3.68 MnT during Jan-Dec’18 fall by 8% as compared to previous year CY’17 and stood at about 3.99 MnT.
Based on monthly comparison, country’s Billet exports recorded at 0.24 MnT in Dec’18 fall by almost 30% as against Dec’17. Also, the exports fell by 25% in the same month as against previous month at 0.32 MnT (Nov’18).
Taiwan remains the largest importer of Japanese Billet in Jan-Dec’18 with a contribution of around 47.52% (1.75 MnT), followed by South Korea 25.38% (0.94 MnT), Thailand 13.3% (0.49 MnT) & Philippines 4.95% (0.18 MnT).
Key Updates:
— Japan crude steel output fell marginally to 104.32 MnT in CY’18 against 104.66 MnT in the previous year. While the same dipped by 2% to 8.46 MnT in Dec’18 against 8.65 MnT in Nov’18.
— Japan’s, Finish long steel exports marginally increase by 2.38 % M-o-M in Dec’18 and stood at 2,04,462 MT as against 199,716 MT in Nov’18.
