Japan: Aluminium premiums negotiations for Q2CY’23 stalled amid discrepancy

  • The negotiations on aluminium ingots’ premiums to Japan for Q2CY’23 have stalled amid a price discrepancy between producers and consumers, as per a Japan Metal Daily report.
  • Producers had increased the premiums by 47-71% q-o-q to $125-145/t for the Apr-Jun’23 quarter. However, consumers are not responding to the increase and are quoting lower, resulting in a delay in negotiations.
