In May’15, iron ore sales via Karnataka e-auctions have moved up drastically against last month.
5.72 MnT iron ore was offered in the Karnataka e-auctions, out of which 3.08 MnT has been sold this month. Sales have increased by 76% against 1.75 MnT in Apr’15. NMDC sold 1.56 MnT iron ore and remaining 1.52 MnT was sold by private miners.

Base & bid prices for fines (Fe 60.4%) offered by NMDC stood at INR 1,495/MT. While, for lump (Fe 62.5%) bid prices stood at INR 2,650/MT. Private mines fines (Fe 60.1%) was allotted at INR 1,290/MT and lump (Fe 61.8%) was sold at INR 2,420/MT. (Grade & prices mentioned are weighted average).
Private mines iron ore fines prices have declined this month. Bid prices for fines (Fe 60%) which was at INR 1,750/MT in Apr’15 has fallen to INR 1,290/MT.
71% of the allotted quantity (2.19 MnT) was procured by JSW Steel. Last month the steel maker procured 1.12 MnT iron ore from Karnataka e-auctions.
