Iron ore production in Karnataka is likely to resume in
July, said Mines Minister Dinsha Patel on Tuesday.
The initial production from the southern state is expected go to the local steel mills, but a resumption of mining means that iron ore exports mainly to China, could also resume in 2012/13.
“In two to three months, mining should happen; I believe the
problem will be resolved by July,” Patel said in an interview, adding exports
from Karnataka should then follow. However, he did not give a timeframe for
such shipments.
