The Iron ore e-auctions that was supposed to be held on 7th
Jan has been deferred till further notice. However, the auctions conducted on 6th
Jan fetched good price for the ore offered by NMDC
NMDC's executive, who didn't wish to be named, said that the
state-run company received “good price” for its iron ore sold in a
court-mandated auction held last week in Karnataka and that he expects prices
to remain robust on strong domestic demand.
In the next auction in Karnataka, the date for which isn't
known yet, NMDC is likely to offer 200,000 metric tons of iron ore, the same
quantity it offered last week.
The executive said that given the strong domestic demand,
it's unlikely that NMDC would export this financial year. “We have given
our views on export of iron ore to the Ministry of Steel. As matters stand now,
we don't have any export contracts so far.”
