During the first Iranian quarter i.e. 20 Mar-20 Jun’20, the steel production of (semi-finished & finished) heavyweight manufacturers of Iran stood at 9.27 mn t. The output has remained majorly stable against the same time span last year.
Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO), Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC), Chadormalu Steel Company were noted among the top producers for steel and DRI.
Semi-finished steel output up 8% – The semi-finished steel production was recorded at 5.70 mn t and noted to have registered a y-o-y rise of 8%.

Finished steel output inches down – While finished steel production was reported to have witnessed a y-o-y decline of 1% and was recorded at 3.57 mn t, during the period under consideration. The finished steel production of Iran’s major companies is mentioned below-

Meanwhile, the direct reduced iron (DRI) production of heavyweight manufacturers of the country stood at 8.21 mn t registering a y-o-y rise of 12%. Iran’s total DRI output in Jun’20 registered a 16% y-o-y growth to reach 2.66 mn t. The country is now the world’s largest DRI producer.
