Iran’s Steel Production Declines Over 2% Y-o-Y in the First Month of Current Persian Year

During the first month of the current Iranian year (20 Mar’20 – 19 Apr’20), Iran’s steel output for finished and semi-finished products stood at 3.85 MnT to register a Y-o-Y decline of 2.21%. Production volumes have come down owing to the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to the Iranian Steel Producers Association’s latest report the production of semi-finished steel and finished steel were recorded as 2.32 MnT (up 2% Y-o-Y) and 1.53 MnT (down 8% Y-o-Y) respectively.

Meanwhile, Direct-reduced iron production stood at 2.62 MnT during the period under consideration, indicating a 3% Y-o-Y rise.
