Kerman Steel Industry, One of the largest finished long steel producer of Iran has recently completed the ongoing production capacity expansion project of rebar steel. According to Mr. Abbas Safarzadeh, Technical and Utility Deputy of Kerman Steel Industries “The plant is currently operating at 220,000 MT. And the second phase is a steel mill with a capacity of 440,000 MT, which was put into operation in CY 2015.”
He added “We hope that the experimental production in this complex will begin next Persian year, and we plan to produce about 150,000 MT billets next year in this complex. Safarzadeh said “One of the main programs of the company next year is exporting semi-finished steel.”
He pointed out that the technology of semi-finished steel production in the Kerman Steel Industry Company was carried out using EAF and the equipment was purchased from China and European countries.
The Technical and Utility Deputy of the Kerman Steel Industries Company added: “The raw materials of the mill i.e. Scrap and DRI are supplied from MIDHCO and Gol Gohar.” According to market conditions, it looks like next year DRI will be produced in house by Kerman Steel.
The company currently manufactures 150 x 150 mm cross section billets with 5sp, st37, and Gr60 grades used for the manufacture of rebar in a rolling mill. Kerman Steel also has capacity to produce billet of sizes 100 * 100, 125 * 125 and 130 * 130 mm.
According to Kerman Steel Company, there development plans include competitive production of 2 MnT of steel products, absorption and investment of capital and effective support of downstream industries are in the perspective of the plans of the Kerman Steel Industries Company. The company also intends to develop Ferro Manganese factory in future.
