The Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) has recently released the production and export figures of the Iranian mills. According to the report, the steelmakers produced around 35.23 mn t of semi-finished and finished steel products during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (20 Mar-20 Nov ’20) to register a 10.7% y-o-y increase.
Semi-finished steel accounted for 20.59 mn t of the total output, up 13% y-o-y. On the other hand, finished steel output stood at 14.63 mn t.
While the steel exports (semi-finished + finished) saw a decline of 19.4% during the period under consideration.
A surge in domestic demand, as well as price control policies adopted by the Ministry of Industries, Mining, and Trade, are among key causes behind the fall in major steel producers’ exports. However, production figures saw a significant rise during the period under consideration.
Commodity-wise production & export

Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) and Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) continue to remain as the largest producer and largest exporter, respectively.
