Iran: Major Mills Steel Exports Fall 12% Y-o-Y

Steel exports from major Iranian mills for the first three Iranian months (March 21-June 21) were recorded at 1.62 MnT. The country has observed a decline of 12% compared with the corresponding period of last year amid US sanctions. The steel mills exported 573,283 MT during the third month of the year (May 22-June 21), which shows a 4% decrease compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Khouzestan Steel Company has registered itself as an Iran’s biggest exporter during the period during the first three Iranian months (March 21-June 21). The company’s exports were recorded 549,306 MT, during the first three Iranian months. While that for only third month (May 22-June 21), the company sales were recorded at 150,567 MT. However, the mill experienced a year-on-year decline, both during the three months and in the third month by 28% and 45% respectively.

Standing in the second spot was Mobarakeh Steel Company, which recorded exports of 342,767 MT during the three months, unchanged compared to its output in last year’s corresponding period. During the third month, the company exported 173,253 MT, to see a Y-o-Y growth of 73%.

Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) ranked third by exporting 262,204 tons during the three months, up 3% YOY. For the third month, the company’s exports were recorded at 110,556 MT to register a Y-o-Y increase of 82%; which is the highest growth by any company compared with the corresponding period of last year.
