Iran: KSC Issues Tender for 70,000 MT Billet & Slab

Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) – Iran’s largest steel exporter has invited tender for export of 30,000 MT billet and 40,000 MT slab for mid Sep’18 and Aug’18 shipment respectively.
The due date for bid submission is 06 Jul’18 till 18:00 hrs.

Last tender was floated by KSC in Apr’18, According to company sources export tender for billet was concluded at USD 535/MT FOB Iran. Destination for billet export tender was GCC region. On parallel lines export tender for slab was concluded at USD 565/MT FOB Iran. Slab was exported to Far East Nation and Europe

Iranian Export Offers Hovering at USD 495-505/MT

As per market sources Iranian billet were offered at around USD 495-505/MT last week. A substantial quantity of Iranian billet for August production was booked by mills and traders from the Middle East at $498-503 per ton FOB in the week ending June 27.

Iran Billet Exports Likely to Remain Unaffected Post US Sanctions

1 – USA has imposed sanctions on Iran due to which it was expected that the export of billet and slab would come down. It was also expected that the Iranian steelmakers might decrease the excess production of billet and slab for exports, but Iran has some other plans to handle sanctions.

2-  Based on SteelMint’s primary research it was learned that Iranian steelmakers has no plans for reducing the production. SteelMint also learned that Iran is looking forward to explore new export market for billet and slab export.

3 – As per market sources “Big traders might have problems to work with Iran after the sanctions but the small traders will still work with Iran, GCC nations are among the largest buyers of Iranian billet and they would find a way to arrange payments and shipments, and continue the semi-finished steel trade with Iran.”
