MSTC Ltd., on behalf of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), has yesterday (29 Oct’18) conducted its second e-auction in this month, for selling petroleum coke from IOCL’s 11th oil refinery at Paradip in Odisha.
However, only 50,000 MT out of the entire lot quantity of 90,000 MT pet coke was sold at an average price of INR 6,300/MT, which was INR 200/MT lower as compared to the last auction held in the second week of this month.
In the last IOCL auction for pet coke, on 9 Oct’18, 65,000 MT was sold out of 70,000 offered, at an average price of INR 6,500.
Notably, the average selling price of pet coke at IOCL’s auctions has fallen for the fourth consecutive time over the past two months.

PRICE ASSESSMENTS
The latest offers for pet coke (6.5% Sulphur) from USA are assessed at around USD 102/MT CNF India, while offers for pet coke (9% Sulphur) from Saudi Arabia are assessed at around USD 98/MT CNF India.
Currently, Indian domestic prices of pet coke are INR 9,650/MT (Reliance Industries Ltd.) and INR 8,370/MT (Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd.).

ii. These prices are exclusive of GST @18%.
iii. The MRPL price is for pet coke transported by rake/barge.
