Industrial power tariff hike in central India to increase steelmaking costs

  • Raipur, Chhattisgarh-based steel mills will face a slight uptick in input costs as power charges increased marginally by INR 5 paise/unit to 15 paise/unit and the revised tariff is INR 6.10 to INR 6.60/unit for 33 KV and INR 6.20 to INR 7.00/unit for 11 KV.
  • Tariffs stood at INR 5.60/unit for 132 KV and INR 5.45/unit for 220 KV.
  • As per sources, ingot and billet production costs will increase by INR 100-150/t after the tariff hike.
