Indonesian coal price continues to surge due to a disturbance in coal supply in the market. Indonesian coal price index has witnessed increase by USD 2-3/MT compared with previous week.
Indonesian coal prices are increasing continuously due to a disruption in coal supply. Officials in Indonesia have cited illegal coal mining in various coal mines and have decided to close production until further action are taken. The available coal supply is not enough to fulfil the rising demand; hence the prices are increasing.
4200 GAR coal preferred by Indian and Chinese traders are offered at USD 44/ MT, FoB Kalimantan for Feb’17 loadings. Low CV 3600 GAR coal is offered at USD 33/MT, FoB Kalimantan. 3800 GAR coal is available at USD 37/MT, FoB. While high CV 5000GAR is available at USD 61/MT, FoB Kalimantan.
An Indian trader mentioned,” With coal supply to remain disturbed, the coal prices are expected to rise in the coming weeks owing to strong demand.”
In India, CFR offers for 3600 GAR coal are heard at USD 40-41/MT at West Coast. 3800 GAR coal is accessed at USD 43-44/MT, CFR West Coast.4200 Gar is offered at USD 51/ MT, CFR West Coast. While 5000 GAR coal is being offered at USD 68/MT, CFR West Coast.
