Indonesian 4,200 GAR grade coal prices rise on strong Chinese demand

The Indonesian thermal coal price index for the 4,200 GAR grade rose by $3.9/t to $64.8/t, FoB, on 25 Jun’21, with demand continuing to rise from Chinese power utilities during summer amid sustained domestic coal shortage. On the supply side, rising Covid cases in Indonesia has turned the big miners cautious resulting in increased coronavirus testing and restricted labour movement. Indian buyers have entered into wait-and-watch mode amid increasing prices.
