Indonesia: Thermal coal prices fall by $5/t amid weak Chinese, European demand

Indonesian thermal coal prices continued their downtrend over the last one month as demand from China and Europe remained weak. Low-to-high prices fell in the range of $1-5/t this week. Power utilities in China decreased purchases as coal requirements were being met by long-term contracts. Meanwhile, Covid lockdown weakened overall power demand. Inquiries from Europe were weak due to strong winter inventory built-up.
