CoalMint has learnt that a few coal miners have declared force majeure at Indonesia’s coal-rich region of East Kalimantan due to torrential rains since the past few weeks. This comes in the wake of a few miners declaring force majeure last week owing to rising Covid cases at mines. However, this is unlikely to cause any major disruption in production, informed market participants. The force majeure clause frees sellers from their contractual obligation in case of unforeseen events.
