Indonesia: High-CV thermal coal prices up $5/t, w-o-w, on robust China demand

Indonesian high-CV 6500 GAR coal prices rose further by $5.5/t, w-o-w, to $138/t FoB amid strong demand from China as traders resumed winter restocking in advance. Chinese power utilities had begun to raise thermal coal tenders since last week to avoid the recurrence of coal shortage experienced last year. Prices of 5800 GAR and 4200 GAR coals also moved up by $2/t each to $127/t and $75/t FoB, respectively, as heavy rains affected coal production and shipments from the country.
