Indonesian government has requested domestic coal miners to supply 161.15 mnt of coal to power industry in 2023 amid rising power demand. Out of the total volume, 81 mnt is to be consumed by state-owned PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, or PLN and the rest is for independent power producers. In 2022, coal demand from the power sector was estimated at 127 mnt, including 64 mnt for PLN.
