Indonesia’s benchmark coal price, also known as HBA (Harga Batubara Acuan), fell marginally by $5/t m-o-m to $319/t for Jul’22, as cheaper Russian supplies to China and India weighed on buying interest for Indonesian coal. Rising domestic production in both China and India contributed, in part, to the decline. However, the benchmark price remains higher by 176% y-o-y against the backdrop of global coal supply availability issues.
