PT Arutmin Indonesia, one of the operating units of PT Bumi Resources, is expected to raise its coal output by 10% to 31.9 MnT this year, said Ida Hotna Hutabarat, chief executive officer of the company as reported by Kontan as saying.
The company is set to boost the production of high-calorific value coal as well, this year.
The company produced 28 MnT of coal in 2018, an increase of 16% from 25 MnT coal it had produced in 2017, the newspaper reported.
“Our production last year is line with the original target,” Hutabarat said.
The company is yet to announce its actual official figures from the coal business of its parent PT Bumi Resources, which is likely to come out in the coming weeks.
Hutabarat said that coal with high calorific value would account for 25% of the company’s total output this year. He did not mention the proportion of such grade last year.
Hutabarat said that the company typically sells its high calorific value coal to Japan while that of low calorific value to other Asian markets such as China and India.
