India:SAIL, JSW Steel raises prices by 3-5 pct

Steel Authority of India, the country’s largest domestic steelmaker, has raised prices on its products by an average 1,000 rupees a tonne, or about 3 percent, a company spokeswoman told  on Monday.

 

JSW Steel Ltd, India’s No. 3 producer of the alloy, has raised prices by 1,400-1,700 rupees a tonne, or 4-5 percent, across various grades, a company source told on Monday. The price increases, which are in line with rising input costs, will take effect immediately, the official, who did not wish to be identified, added.  

 

Earlier, Steel Authority of India said it has raised prices by 3 percent this month.
