India’s top five iron ore miners in FY’21

  • India’s largest miner – NMDC recorded a yearly increase of 8% in FY’21 production. With resumption in operations at Donimalai volumes are expected to rise further.
  • Tata Steel’s iron ore production increased by 16% in FY’21 to 30.8 mn t.
  • SAIL bagged the third position with an output of 30.5 mn t, up 4% against 29.3 mn t in FY’20.
  • JSW Steel’s production ramped up as its 13 (9 in Karnataka & 4 in Odisha) captive iron ore mines turned operational in FY’21. In FY’20 its captive production stood at 1.6 mn t
  • OMC’s output stood at 13.3 mn t, up 7% y-o-y. Initiation of operations at Tiringpahar, boosting supplies from Gandhamardan B apart from Guali & Jilling mines have added to production numbers.
