India’s steel imports drop 14% y-o-y in H1 CY’25

India’s steel imports fell 14% to 4.4 mnt against 5.2 mnt in the corresponding period last year. India remained a net importer during this period, with a trade deficit of 0.7 mnt compared to 0.3 mnt in H1 last year. China and Japan saw volumes contract by 46% and 41% y-o-y to 0.83 mnt and 0.56 mnt, respectively. However, South Korea recorded a modest 8% decrease to 1.29 mnt.
