India’s NMDC Suspends Iron Ore Operations Till Further Notice – Sources

India’s largest iron ore miner – National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has suspended its iron ore operations from today afternoon till further notice, SteelMint learned from its reliable sources.

As per sources, both iron ore production and dispatches have been suspended for now, till further notice.

It was also reported that the loading operations at Bacheli complex will remain suspended till further intimation, following which buyers have been requested to not to place rake in all the three sidings till further information.

NMDC produced 29.12 MnT iron ore so far this fiscal (Apr’19-Feb’20) out of which 22.27 MnT was produced from its Chhattisgarh mines and rest 6.85 MnT from its Karnataka mines. NMDC’s Chattisgarh mines is a key source of raw material for state based units as well as units like Vizag Steel, KIOCL, JSW Steel etc.
