India’s lignite production falls 15% y-o-y in Jan’23

India’s lignite production decreased by 15% y-o-y to 3.91 mnt in Jan’23 with a decline in output of all key miners. The largest lignite producer, Barmer Lignite Mining Company Limited (BLMCL) registered a 16% y-o-y fall in production.

Meanwhile, in the Apr’22-Jan’23 period, India’s cumulative lignite production stood at 36 mnt, edging down by 2% y-o-y.
