Rungta Mines – India’s largest private merchant iron ore miners has recorded significant growth in iron ore output since FY15. The miner recorded an increase of 30% Y-o-Y in its yearly iron ore production from Odisha last fiscal. According to data state government data maintained with SteelMint, it produced 22.8 MnT iron ore from its Odisha mines in FY17 compared to 17.58 MnT in FY16.
Following the Odisha Government’s move to extend lease agreements, iron ore output in the state moved up. Rise in production post capacity enhancement at its mines namely- Jajang, Oraghat and Sanindupur resulted in increased production from Rungta Mines in Odisha.
Apart from increase in domestic iron ore dispatches, miner also raised exports in FY17. Rungta Mines exported 2.5 MnT iron ore in FY17 which was nil in FY16.
Apart from operations in Odisha, Rungta Mines also have captive mines in Jharkhand.
